How do I translate Circle Dock?

Almost all of the texts use by Circle Dock are now translated into over 50 languages, including all those used in the major European and Asian countries. If, however, you are unable to find a suitable translation for your native language from those provided with the product, you can assist us by preparing a language translation file.

To prepare a Translation file

Using the Windows Notepad program, open the file called "Language.Txt" which you will find in Circle Dock's "home" folder (eg: C:\Program Files\Circle Dock\Language.Txt). Immediately access the File Menu and click on "Save as ..." and name the file with the name of the language you are creating (eg: Punjabi.Txt). Before clicking on the "Save" button, select "UTF-8" from the Encoding button.

You will see that the file - which is in standard INI format - comprises of Section Headers which appear as:

[Section Header]

Do not translate any of the Section Headers, these MUST remain in English. Following each Section Header are a number of entries in the form:

Entry=Some text

The Entry name, delimited by the "equals" sign ("=") MUST remain in English and you should only translate the texts that appear immediately after the "equals" sign.

No control characters whatsoever should be used in the translated text which should be entirely contained on one line. Do not split the translation into multiple lines, even if the text seems too long. Note that some of the texts, notably those for "About1", "About2" and "About3" are very long.

When you have completed translating all the texts, save the file and send it (as a file attachment to a message) to the author (click on the link to open your mail program). As soon as I receive this file, I will check it for completeness and convert it to the language file format. You should receive a copy of your new language file within a few hours.

Note to Web Mail users:
If you use Web Mail (rather than a mail program such as Outlook or Thunderbird), your mail message should be addressed to "mark_hamilton@lineone.net" and the Subject must include the words "Circle Dock Translation" to ensure it is delivered and read.
